Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti is perhaps Tanzania’s most famous national park, known for its annual wildebeest migration. But even outside of migration season, the Serengeti is a must-visit destination for any wildlife enthusiast. The park covers over 14,000 square kilometers and is home to a wide variety of animals, including lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, and more.

One of the best ways to experience the Serengeti is through a guided safari tour. Many lodges and campsites offer guided tours, either by vehicle or on foot. Visitors can also choose to stay in the park itself, either in one of the park’s designated campsites or in one of the luxury lodges.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Located just outside the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. The caldera is over 600 meters deep and is home to an incredible array of wildlife, including the endangered black rhino.

Visitors to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area can go on game drives to see the park’s wildlife, as well as take guided walks to learn more about the area’s geology and history. There are also several cultural attractions within the park, including the Maasai Boma, a traditional Maasai village.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is famous for its elephant population, as well as its baobab trees and breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley. The park is also home to a variety of other wildlife, including lions, giraffes, zebras, and more.

One of the best ways to experience Tarangire is through a guided walking safari. Walking safaris offer a more intimate look at the park’s wildlife and allow visitors to explore areas that are not accessible by vehicle.

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park is well-known for its big population of pink flamingos and tree-climbing lions. The park covers just over 300 square kilometers and is home to a variety of other wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, and hippos.

One of the unique features of Lake Manyara is the hot springs located within the park. Visitors can take a dip in the hot springs or take a guided walk to learn more about the geology of the area.

Gombe Stream National Park

Located on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, Gombe Stream National Park is known for its population of chimpanzees. The park was made famous by Jane Goodall’s research on chimpanzee behavior and is one of the best places in the world to see these amazing animals in their natural habitat.

Visitors to Gombe Stream can go on guided walks to see the chimpanzees, as well as take boat trips on Lake Tanganyika to see the park’s other wildlife. The park is also a popular destination for birdwatchers, with over 200 species of birds recorded within the park.
