The temperatures might have dropped but that doesn’t mean much for the most dedicated among us. If camping outdoors while road tripping around is what you live for, there’s no getting in your way as the cold and windy nights become the norm. Just because you are out there when the temperatures are in the single digits, that doesn’t mean it has to be miserable, right?
Of course that isn’t something you need to worry about, as long as you have the right equipment. No matter if you’re getting around by RV or your car, you’ll want a portable heater for once you are at the campsite. Since there’s so many options out there, which one should you choose?
Kerosene Heaters
There’s two types of campers who are going to want to go with kerosene to keep themselves warm. The first type is the one that needs to keep heat coming for hours on end. Now that’s not going to be everyone, as plenty of us are just looking for some warmth here and there. If you are looking to have that heater of yours going for most, if not all, of a day you’ll want to go with this.
The other type is going to be those looking to heat a larger area. Kerosene can do that well, whether you also are looking for some extended heat or not. Make sure your area, large or small, is going to be well ventilated when using this heat source. If you are in a closed off space for extended burn, you’ll quickly be greeted by the smell of kerosene.
Propane Heaters
When it comes to mobility and ease of use, it’s going to be hard to pass on propane. This portable heat method is going to be the one that comes to mind for many and that’s for good reason, reliability. As you travel around, you know anything can happen so why add in your heat source as another variable? When it works, it works.
The only slight downside is the propane tank itself. The heater and propane itself shouldn’t set you back too much when it comes to affordability but you’ll always need to know where to find a
propane supplier for when the tank runs dry.
If you alway stay somewhat local, knowing who to go to won’t be too much of an issue but if you are planning something national-wide, or even regional, make sure you have suppliers mapped out ahead of time.
Electric Space Heaters
In daily life, getting the most value for your dollar rules above all else. When it comes to both traveling and camping, getting the most out of your space is the most important mindset to be in. That line of thinking alone might make you consider going with an electric heater for your next adventure. Those are hard to beat when it comes to efficiency and total added weight.
When looking at the downsides, noise might come into play and the more powerful your electric heater is, the more likely it is to have a lot of complicated parts to do the job. When it takes more parts to get a job done, things are often all the more likely to malfunction because of it.
